Republic Drill Co. has spent more than 40 years serving the people and businesses that make the drilling industry work. What began as Venture Drilling Supply has grown into a national distributor of drilling equipment, parts, and supplies for the water well, geothermal, mining, and geotechnical industries.

We're continuing to grow, and we're looking for a Controller who can help us manage the financial side of that growth.

About the Position

We're looking for an experienced Controller who is comfortable managing the daily accounting work while also helping guide the financial direction of the company.

We're a growing company, and we need someone who can bring structure to our financial operations without making things unnecessarily complicated.

The right person will understand accounting, but they'll also understand business. We need someone who can recognize financial risks, identify opportunities to improve profitability, and help leadership make sound decisions.

What You'll Do

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Manage day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, payments, collections, and reconciliations, and monthly closes.

  • Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.

  • Manage monthly and year-end closing processes.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, including the balance sheet, income statement, and cash-flow reports.

  • Oversee inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and related reconciliations.

  • Coordinate with outside accountants and tax professionals to support accurate reporting and required filings.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Monitor company cash flow, working capital, and financial obligations.

  • Develop and maintain operating budgets and financial forecasts.

  • Provide leadership with regular reporting on revenue, expenses, gross margins, and profitability.

  • Help evaluate financial performance by location, department, and business line.

  • Identify trends, financial risks, and areas where the business can improve.

  • Support decisions involving inventory purchases, equipment investments, financing, and company growth.

Financial Controls & Governance

  • Establish and maintain appropriate accounting policies, approval processes, and internal controls.

  • Help ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and financial obligations.

  • Improve purchasing, expense management, and payment procedures.

  • Maintain oversight of financial commitments, debt, and credit arrangements.

  • Work with leadership to strengthen financial accountability throughout the company.

  • Evaluate existing systems and processes and recommend improvements as the business grows.

What We're Looking For

We need someone who has managed the accounting function of a business and understands how financial decisions affect its day-to-day operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • At least 7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including experience with financial reporting and accounting operations.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls, and accounting practices.

  • Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and monthly close.

  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management.

  • Strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to people who don't work in accounting.

  • Good judgment, attention to detail, and a willingness to take ownership of the work.

Experience We'd Value

  • Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.

  • Accounting experience in distribution, manufacturing, equipment sales, or another inventory-based business.

  • Experience with inventory costing, purchasing, and multi-location operations.

  • Experience improving financial processes or implementing accounting systems.

  • CPA or CMA certification.
